We're not kidding ! Yesterday, A HUM correspondent was on Shelburne Road and, generally, the prices were around 2.49 a gallon. An hour later the correspondent was on Route 15 in Essex and the prices averaged 2.39 ! For example, the Simon's on Shelburne Road was 2.49 and the Simon's in Essex was 2.39 ! What is up with that ?

From most accounts, General George Weightman is a decent man and loyal patriot. West Point grad and all that. Unfortunately, the less-than-acceptable conditions at Walter Reed demand a fall guy - and Weightman is the top dog at the hospital, hence, the dude who's accountable. With the embarrassing news accounts of the past week, shedding very bright light on the problems at Reed, Weightman was an easy target, the easiest. But remember two things when someone mentions this story to you:
- Weightman was only Walter Reed chief for six months - barely enough time to figure out where the vending machines were. The problems at the Medical Center originated long before Weightman took over.
- All VA hospitals are presently experiencing difficulties with bureaucracy and operations. How 'bout taking some of the Homeland Security monies we're presently spending on "stupid stuff" (little-used security cameras in remote Alaska, etc. ) and bolster the facilities at Walter Reed and beyond.

Horse***t! Weightman is responsible for what happens in his command. Egregious failures are easy to spot. It wasn't as if these problems were invisible. Soldiers and their families have been complaining but the Army has been working hard to shut them up.

As one who has worked at Walter Reed, I can assure you that there were myriad problems long before General Weightman took the helm.
Weightman has an impeccable record and is being made the sacrificial lamb.
The 'egegious failure' you mention is your own lack of knowledge to back up what you state and the simpleton posit of your argument.
I suspect there is an liberal bent to this; Walter Reed looks bad - Bush looks bad.
Take your hateful and shallow agenda and stick it.

If "myriad failures" were evident at Walter Reed Hospital when Gen. Weightman assumed command, why did he not act to correct them? Why did his predecessors fail to do so? A commanding officer is responsible for all the actions taken within his or her command. What's wrong with our general officers? Are they so focused on not making waves that they neglect their subordinates' and their duties?
How could Snarky Boy be Mike Colby if Mike Colby was kicked out of the Sheehan hearing for booing Sheehan's opponent but Snarky Boy wrote an article critisizing Sheehan herself.
It doesn't make sense.
Who the hell came before Weightman???????!!!!!!!!
